Mooncake – Russian orchestra/ post-rock. It is one of the leaders of the instrumental Russian scene, the band has created its own style and sound at the junction of different instrument genres ( art- and space rock , neo-classical , jazz fusion and other).
The band was one of the few Russian teams toured in China . In 2013 it introduced a unique audio-visual show “Space Odyssey” under the dome of the Moscow planetarium .
Initially Mooncake gravitated to a more rock sound, they are often compared with Pink Floyd. Debut Album Lagrange Points ( 2008 ) distinguished art- and Space-rock sound, song structure and sound compositions in the spirit of the 1970s . A series of singles that followed him, showed that the group is evolving towards a more massive sound and complex arrangements.
The result was the evolution of disk Zaris ( 2013 ), which play a key role not only the guitar, but also brass , strings and keyboards . Above the disk works best specialists from Russia, Latvia and the UK (drums played Denis Marinkin , sound engineer recording became a specialist Latvian Gatis Zatis ). Disc praised Engineer London studio Metropolis John Davies , Master album “Excellent space rock from Moscow!”. Since April 2013 Mooncake act as an orchestra of twelve people.
This time they will bring the sound from the universe to China.
