Formed in 2007, and now with a contract with the label Modern Sky, the very first Chinese reggae band in the true sense, Long Shen Dao (LSD, meaning Tao of Dragon God in Chinese) is releasing their 2016 brand new album on Jan. 2nd at Yugongyishan club. Having been designated as the guest band for Bob Marley’s band The Wailers China tour; having toured twice in New Zealand and Canada; and having participated in many international music festivals such as the world’s largest music festival Glastonbury in UK, Festival Mundial in Holland, Luminato Festival in Canada, RBC Royal Bank Bluesfest，HillSide Fest, etc., Long Shen Dao has drawn wide attention from global musicians and fans. They deserve to be called “the most international Chinese band” for bringing the new style of Chinese reggae as well as highly recognizable new Chinese contemporary music to the world.
Their last album won them many awards including the Best Album of the Year and the Best Rock Band of the Year at the MIDI Music Awards. Their brand new 2016 album still retains the well accepted elements of Reggae, Ska, Dub and Dancehall, but once again extends intoelectronic styles such as Trap, Electro and Drum n’ Bass. Featuring collaborations with hit DJ group in Holland, Partysquad, as well as the U.K. Dub veteran Vibronics, this album brings listeners the coolest sounds of the new century. What’s more, the sound of Chinese traditional instruments such as Guzheng, Pipa and Bamboo Flute are seamlessly and elegantly integrated into their new work.
