JURAT T.T NEW ALBUM AKKU RELEASE CONCERT
Special guest: YUNGGIEMA

Jurat T.T, the Uyghur musician, a native of Karamay in the heart of north Xinjiang’s arid Dzungarian basin, who grew up surrounded by music. Jurat has lived in Beijing since 2002, stands out amid the capital’s congested panorama of trendy music styles. A staple performer on the local folk circuit, Jurat has been luring discerning audiences for almost a decade with his versatile style and indie collaborations. The backbone of his music is drum and bass-heavy rock with traces of psychedelic punk, blues, jazz and hints of traditional Uyghur music.

His first album, Sans Famille provides a candid window into his personal life, including past joys and struggles, mostly happened during his first ten years in Beijing. Between this period, he formed several bands including the “Warriors Choir” and “Home Laity” that fused rock with other music styles, including playing with Kazakh musician Mamer from IZ. Now in his solo act, he is crafting and refining his style of indie rock alongside Xinjiang ethnic folk music.

Jurat predominantly sings in the Uyghur language (one track on his first album is sung in French) and often embraces improvisation. He has worked with musicians from around the world, absorbing the new, without losing his core Uyghur sound.

After the first album with lots of surprises, here comes his very expected second album Akku (Swan), releases the 28th March 2013 at Yugong Yishan.
