“SingerSen has forged a singular sound that eschews the mainstream but is far too technically accomplished to call indie” City Weekend 2011
Born in China’s North East province of Liaoning, SingerSen is a natural-born singer with a unique voice that spans over three and a half octaves, allowing her to swing effortlessly from angelic highs to devilishly beguiling lows.
As winner of the 10th CCTV National Young Singers competition and also the 14th Voice of Asia International Pop Competition with a perfect 10 score, she wanted to steer away from the bubblegum pop route and instead, has embarked on an adventurous journey into the realm of world, ambient folk and electro-rock sounds.
With elements of Kate Bush, Evanescence and Faye Wong, SingerSens’s music attracted the attention of internationally renowned producer Guy Sigsworth, who has worked with Madonna, Britney Spears, Bjork, and Imogen Heap. Guy and cutting-edge Chinese music producer He Qi have produced SingerSen debut release, the Sirens EP.
The majestic title-cut Sirens is probably one of the tracks of the year coming out of China and has already earned her the top spot on Chinese billboard charts. With a brilliant new single, Ghost Street, due for release autumn 2011, SingerSen will be performing with her 5 piece band over the summer at various festivals and venues.
