To celebrate 5 years of promoting reggae music in China, Shanghai’s Uprooted Sunshine and Beijing’s Upstepper Sound Soundsystems come together in combination style to bring Beijing a night of reggae music from around the world, along with some made right here in China. With both Sound systems celebrating their respective 5 year anniversaries this year, Uprooted Sunshine takes their show on the road bringing special guest and reggae luminary Clive Chin and selector Twice arriving all the way from Jamaica to join the party , along with local legend and renowned reggae expert Steve Barker from BBC radio.
Upstepper Sound is proud to host Shanghai’s Uprooted Sunshine, who are regarded as the top reggae soundsystem in China. Together these two sounds can be regarded as foundational elements in the nascent Chinese reggae scene. Expect a wicked selection of reggae, dancehall and dub from DJs representing Jamaica, Beijing, and Shanghai along with Cha Cha and MC Webber – two of China’s best reggae vocalists.
